Event Details

Many New Year’s resolutions focus on taking better care of ourselves, particularly as we grow older. Exercise and healthy diets are usually on the list, but did you know that many symptoms commonly attributed to the natural process of aging – such as fatigue, muscle pain, and confusion – may be side effects of medications that are not appropriate for certain individuals based on their DNA?

Genetics has proven to contribute to meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery through significant reductions in overall health care costs and healthcare resource utilization. New research from Coriell Life Sciences supports DNA testing’s role as a standard of care in the improvement of patient health, too.

Therefore, you will not want to miss NCTR’s first webinar of the new year on January 19 at 3 PM/ET that will explain how ensuring patients are on the right medications for them — based on their DNA, as well as other important factors — can significantly reduce undesirable symptoms that are, in fact, adverse drug reactions. You will also hear how public employer programs demonstrate the continued trend of economic, clinical, and humanistic improvements in this area, as well as exciting news concerning upcoming DNA testing programs that will be easier for smaller groups and individuals to access.

Register now to join NCTR’s Director of Federal Relations Leigh Snell and guest panelists:

  • Dr. Jeffrey Shaman, Chief Science Officer at Coriell Life Sciences
  • Jane Gilbert, Director of Retiree Health Care, Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Kentucky
  • Dr. Gina Beanland, Clinical Staff Pharmacist, Know Your Rx Coalition (a governmental purchasing collaborative)

To submit questions in advance for panelists to address during the discussion, email Leigh Snell at leigh@nctr.org.
