Are you ready to get more involved in NCTR?  Put your thoughts into action as a member of the NCTR Executive Committee!

Who is eligible?

Executive Officers and Board Trustees of retirement systems that are members of NCTR.

Composition of the committee:

Ten seats total, representing ten different retirement systems.  Five seats are held by System Officers and five seats are held by System Board Members.

Term of service:

A year of service runs from October to October, coinciding with the Annual Business Meeting.  Each committee member serves a three-year term and may apply to serve one additional, consecutive term.  Terms of the ten seats overlap.

Responsibilities:

The Executive Committee establishes policies to govern NCTR activities, oversees the budget, and, working closely with the NCTR Executive Director, supervises NCTR operations.  At minimum, the Committee meets in person during the spring, the October Annual Conference, and December in varying venues.  Additional meetings may be scheduled, including ones via conference call.  Committee members are expected to familiarize themselves with the materials relevant to each meeting.

How many seats are open this year?

One, for a System Officer.

How and when to apply:

A letter of interest (submitted by the applicant) or a letter of nomination (submitted on behalf of the applicant) are due at NCTR Headquarters by Thursday, September 7, 2017.  Letters should be addressed to the “Chair of the Nominating Committee” and sent to the attention of Robyn Wheeler by either email (rwheeler@nctr.org) or fax (916) 897-9315).

And then what?

(1) Applicants will be sent a short questionnaire.  (2) Candidates will be interviewed by the NCTR Nominating Committee October 7 or 8, 2017, at the Annual Conference hotel (Loews Ventana Canyon, Tucson, AZ).  (3) The Nominating Committee will propose a slate of nominees to the delegates at the Annual Business Meeting on October 10, 2017.  (4) Delegates will elect the new Executive Committee members.  (5) The new Executive Committee will hold its first meeting immediately following the adjournment of the Annual Business Meeting.
