NCTR Welcomes New President Karen Yamamoto

NCTR is proud to announce Karen Yamamoto as the new President of NCTR! Karen serves as the Board Vice Chair for the California State Teachers’ Retirement System and brings decades of public service and education expertise to the role. A retired elementary school teacher in West Sacramento, Karen taught kindergarten, first and second grades for 15 years before retiring in 2007.
Her commitment to education extends beyond the classroom, having chaired the California Department of Education’s Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission in 2003. Karen also served as a Legislative Assistant in the California State Legislature for over a decade, from 1978 to 1991.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Karen remains actively engaged with the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project and the Japanese American Citizens League, Florin Chapter.
